Official statement regarding the office of the Chief Executive Officer Brig. (Rtd.) Joseph Muracia, EBS, ndc, psc (k)
The Nairobi Rivers Commission (NRC) wishes to address reports and allegations circulating on social media regarding the alleged suspension or dismissal of its Chief Executive Officer, Brig. (Rtd.) Joseph Muracia.
The Commission categorically clarifies that Brig. (Rtd.) Joseph Muracia remains the substantive Chief Executive Officer of the Nairobi Rivers Commission and has neither been suspended nor replaced. He continues to discharge his duties and to coordinate the implementation of the Nairobi Rivers Regeneration Project, which has continued to gain momentum under his leadership.
The Commission firmly refutes the misinformation being circulated and provides the following clarifications:
The Nairobi Rivers Commission is domiciled within the State Department for Housing and Urban Development and is mandated to coordinate the efforts of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, as well as riverine communities, in the restoration and regeneration of Nairobi’s rivers into sustainable green and blue infrastructure that enhances environmental quality and quality of life.
There has been no lawful, official decision, directive, or communication indicating that the Chief Executive Officer, Brig. (Rtd.) Joseph Muracia, has been dismissed, suspended, or otherwise removed from office.
The Commission is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and transparency. Any allegations of misconduct or corruption are treated with utmost seriousness and, where necessary, are addressed strictly through established legal and institutional processes in accordance with Kenyan law, NRC governance frameworks, and applicable public service regulations.
At present, there is no substantiated or verified information issued by the Commission or any authorized investigative body indicating any wrongdoing on the part of the Chief Executive Officer. The Commission will not condone the dissemination of false, misleading, or defamatory information that may cause harm to individuals or undermine the institution.
Should any credible information arise through formal and lawful processes, the Commission will communicate appropriately and promptly through its official and verified communication channels.
